The thermal fluctuations of our unique climate are the source of many inconveniences in the concrete infrastructure industry. For example, the pillars of bridges, the beams of multi-storey parking lots and marine structures in reinforced concrete are greatly deteriorated due to humidity and de-icing salts. The demand for more durable and structurally efficient structures continues to grow and there is an urgent need to find sustainable alternatives to extend the useful life of reinforced concrete structures. Therefore, HPSH Inc. designs and develops durable, high-performance hybrid structures that outperform the conventional reinforced concrete structures.

HPSH

HPSH inc, designs, manufactures and makes available to the construction market new high performance hybrid structures, very resistant in aggressive environments. These innovative, high-end structures are composed of an outer fiber-reinforced polymer tube and reinforced concrete cast inside the fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) tube. The outer tube made of composite materials provides the concrete with a confinement that increases its resistance to compression and prevents it from cracking prematurely. It also protects reinforced concrete against de-icing salts and corrosion and thus extends the life of concrete infrastructure. An improved version for certain applications is that of SHHPs partially filled with reinforced concrete. An inner FRP tube is integrated inside the outer tube not only creates the vacuum and thus reduces the dead weight, but also plays the role of a tensile reinforcement and thus increases the load-bearing capacities of considerable way. A SHHP beam having 30% less weight compared to a conventional reinforced concrete beam, but has up to 400% more bearing capacity.
